SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

IN RESPONSE TO THE CURRENT SITUATION WITH THE CORONA VIRUS, ALL U3A TWEED COAST GROUPS/CLASSES AT ALL LOCATIONS ARE SUSPENDED FOR THE REST OF TERM 1.

THIS POLICY WILL BE REVISED AT THE END OF APRIL.

All members may now.  renew membership fo 2020

When enquiring about a Group please refer to the timetable and  contact the group Leader of that particular Group.

Do not just show up to a Group without first having spoken to that particular Group Leader

Our annual membership fee is still at a modest $40. For this you may join as many different groups as you wish, subject to  numbers. However you may only attend one YOGA and or one PILATES group unless there is no waiting list. This is due to overwhelming interest in these groups and the limit on numbers attending. Please respect the Group Leader’s decision. when enquiring about this.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

At U3A Tweed Coast we love our Group Leaders and recently held a lunch to show our
appreciation for all their hard work throughout the year. After all without them we have no U3A. Thirty eight Group Leaders take over 50 Groups between them, that is awesome.
The photo shows five leaders receiving  Certificates of Appreciation for their
contributions over a combined 39 years. Awesome!!

After a well earned break from teaching computers, Barbara is back in 2020 for a short 4 week course in each term starting with beginers Androids Tablets & Smart phones. This will not include Apple. Check out the new timetable.

The 2020 Membership Forms is available now. The annual fee is still a value packed $40.  You can join through your Group Leader, or Sign on Day on Thursday 24th January at the Seventh Day Adventist Church , Philip St. Chinderah from 10 am.to 2pm.

    Why not try something different : 

    Mah – Jong, Canasta, Cryptic Crosswords etc,  so many  groups to choose from.

YOGA GROUPS
Thanks to our dedicated Group Leaders, we now have four Yoga groups and one
Pilates group each week.There may be a waiting list for some so check the Timetable
and contact the Group Leader before attending.

         Mah-Jong on Tuesday has places available for beginners or more experienced players. Janet is happy to chat to you about joining on 0412 821 642.

    Did you know you can now play Mah-Jong at Murwillumbah on Wednesday. It is so
popular that there is now a waiting list.
         Also at Murwillumbah Sctrabble starts in term 1
       “Pony Canasta” is at the Tweed Heads Library meeting room on Tuesday as well as
         Monday at Kingscliff

FUTURE FRIDAY FORUMS.

 2.00 p.m.— KINGSCLIFF UNITING CHURCH 24A KINGSCLIFF ST.  KINGSCLIFF

  Always the first Frday of the month except in school hlidays.

The first Forum for  2020 will be on Friday 6th March.

The talk is called  “Convicts, Poms and the Flash Mob”.
 Convict, Poms and Pirates journeyed from prison hulks in England to a new

land down under. What a ramshackle bunch of human beings they were.They fought over the mail bags and held lotteries for women convicts.

Discover the importance that the coats of the Marines and posties played in
determing the Australia’s seasons.
Say Hi to Harry the camel and check out Mrs Macquaries chair.
Humorous and informative, an afternoon  not to be missed.

 FRIDAY FORUM  afternoons are open to everyone not just  members so bring a friend or a new neighbour  $2 entry includes afternoon tea.

 WE HATE TO BE THE BADGE POLICE BUT IT IS A CONDITION OF ATTENDING  ALL U3A COURSES THAT YOUR MEMBERSHIP BADGE IS WORN OR DISPLAYED  IN A PROMINENT PLACE.  THE REASON FOR THIS RECENTLY BECAME EVIDENT WHEN A MEMBER  HAD A MEDICAL   EPISODE AND THE COURSE LEADER NEEDED EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS.

 PLEASE DO NOT EMBARRASS YOUR COURSE LEADER BY IGNORING THIS

Why not join some more activities.There are so many to choose from. You could do something new every day!!!!

 If you attend any Groups at Cudgen Leagues Club, you must be a member of that Club.The annual fee is a modest $6. There are no exceptions to this. Did you know that club members get discounts on the great meals at the Club.

       Why not share it with others?

Take Barbara, she loved playing Pony Canasta so much she started a Group. Now she has a regular band of experienced players and is happy to teach beginners.

Think about what you could share with others, Chess or Backgammon, Play Reading, Drama/Acting.
